Milestones


Founded by Ingrid Gerencser und Franz Pammer - 2 young, barely out of school press photographers – in the mid 80s, by now the GEPA pictures GmbH is Austria’s biggest sport pictures agency and with its 50 staff among the most famous companies concerning picture-service nationwide.

Innovation, open-mindedness towards new technical developments, future-oriented strategies on enhancement and customer-specific marketing are the central-themes of GEPA pictures’ story of success.

2013

  • Publication of the self-published illustrated book „Schladming 2013 - Gold, Silber & Bronze“.
  • The database grows to more than 3 million pictures online.


2010

  • Relaunch of the GEPA pictures website
  • The database grows to more than 2 million pictures online.
  • Future happens - 100mbps cyber optic cable connection speeds up GEPA's picture database ten times!

2009

  • „Non-Word“ of the year: saving.

2008

  • UEFA EURO 2008 and Olympic Games have the agency grow to more than 50 staff. 18 photographers come into operation during the UEFA EURO 2008.

2007

  • A million is achieved! On August 15th, 2007 one million pictures are accessible online in the GEPA picture-database.

2006

  • A Red Bull assignment including database-hosting takes GEPA back into the Formula 1.

2005

  • The GEPAisave, a picture-database-solution especially developed for the needs of GEPA with webshop and modern user administration displaces the Phrasea.
  • Due to the continous growth of the aganecy - GEPA pictures is converted into a limited company.

2002

  • The supply of international pictures is magnified by starting cooperations with international picture agencies.

2001

  • Publication of the self-published illustrated book „Alpine Ski-WM St. Anton/A. 2001“.

2000

  • Sales-strategist Martin Ritzer strengthens the GEPA management as „third force“. From that point on photography and customer-service lead their self-contained, successful ways.
  • Purchase of bigger office-space in the „tower“ of the Arnold-Schwarzenegger-Stadium (UPC-Arena today).

1999

  • Publication of the self-published illustrated book „Nordische Ski-WM Ramsau 1999“.

1998

  • Photography goes digital also. The GEPA picture-database is the first available in the „web“ in Austria.

1997

  • First web-appearance and renaming the agency as GEPA pictures.

1994

  • The office moves into a penthouse-office in the centre of Graz.

1993

  • Beginning of the digital era with the picture-database Phrasea – the first in Austra.

1992

  • Specialisation in sport.

1987

  • Foundation of the GEPA Pressefoto OEG.
